Shop bosses selling Prime energy drink at FIVE times its retail value ahead of Christmas
GREEDY shopkeepers are selling Prime at five times its retail value — as the energy drink tops kids’ Christmas lists.
The energy drink is only officially available at Asda for £2 but some small stores are flogging it for £10.
They have been cashing in on soaring demand for supplies of Prime Hydration, developed by influencers KSI and Logan Paul.
And one newsagent has been spotted putting empty bottles on the shelf while keeping full ones behind the counter.
The hidden haul was at a shop in Glasgow city centre.
A worker said: “People of all ages want it. We’re about to run out.”
But one customer slammed the cost, saying: “There is no way I am paying a tenner for that. I’ll stick to my usual, Lucozade.”
Internet sellers are also aiming to make big profits. Online firm The Bottle Club is flogging all seven flavours for £11.99 each.
And one opportunist in Cumbernauld has put two bottles on Gumtree for £25.
The same quantity on eBay would set fans back £18.99.
A critic who blasted the huge Prime mark-ups wrote: “You must be drunk if you think I’m paying that much.”
Sales of the popular sports drink were previously limited to three per person.
Asda said: “We know Prime is very popular and stores which sell it are receiving regular deliveries.”
