State of the Squad and Season to Date

0
This could also be titled the 'The Trending 1-7 Club Myths Busted'

MYTH1: AG is 1-6 and trending toward 1-7
The last 2 games showed marked improvement mainly due to being more comfortable with the squad on the floor and outside shooting.

Last year proved how foolish it is to make such definitive pronouncements on such a small sample size. The problem is those infected with this way of expressing their opinions didn't learn that and have already counted the NCAA out this year and some even give little hope for next year too.

This team took a huge step last night even bigger than the step they took in the previous game.

Winning away from the arena against a pre-season top 25 team with less injuries than us was very positive improvement. The team play and chemistry is much improved along with 3 point shooting and not surprisingly then overall shooting pct.

Last night showed that there are very few teams in the A10 the even this limited healthy group can't beat on the road if they stay focused and continue to improve. How much more do those chances improve if we get a healthy Mali and Elvis back.

They reject the possibility that going 16-2 in the A10 will get UD an at large and also say it's not going to happen so it's a moot point to them.

Suggesting that perhaps letting the season play out before out before putting the tally in the fail column brings both their ire and mocking.

A non-bid season could very well occur. Calling it a done deal or worse is a complete
FAIL

MYTH2: AG's offensive scheme is horrible and has to go
It's amazing how good the offense is when the team has it's best 3 point shooter(s) healthy and back in the flow.

The last 2 games the Offensive numbers have been just fine just as 4 of the 5 past years have been and the 5th was acceptable at the very least.

FAIL

MYTH3: The fans are getting restless
This sentiment has been stated in various ways. One common thing about it is the anti-AG group thinks all fans think like they do.

I'd estimate between 4-5k vocal, smiling, applauding AG fans at the game last night. I wouldn't be surprised to find out is was more than that. Saw Kavs there last night too which was pretty cool.

FAIL

MYTH4: Brea's guard skills
This Myth has several flavors. He's not a good ball handler, his D is poor or pourous, he can't play the point

Last 2 games Brea has shown he is more than capable to play the point, his D is much improved and his ball handling is just fine.

FAIL

MYTH5: Mike is not a PG
Also includes RJ is not a 2 thus not a guard, Uhl is not a PG, Elvis is not a PG even though a loft of the minutes each of these guys have played have been at these exact positions.

Mike is young and has a lot on his plate. I don't think anyone is doing him any favors putting the weight of an entire nation on him. He has played some great minutes and had some real struggles like last night.

He has lot to learn and grow in to. One this is sure. At the very least, Mike is a great backup PG. To most, Mike is already more than a capable #1 PG and has a super high ceiling

FAIL
