Opinion: Man United must react as Chelsea reportedly lead 'breathtaking' £26m striker race
Manchester United must go all out to beat Premier League rivals Chelsea to the signing of Borussia Dortmund youngster Youssoufa Moukoko in the January transfer window.
Sky Sport Germany are claiming that Chelsea are pushing harder than any other club to sign the 17-year-old forward this winter.
However, United boss Erik ten Hag cannot allow Graham Potter to bring the talented teenage strike sensation to Stamford Bridge.
He is a generational talent and could become the next superstar name at Old Trafford.
After Cristiano Ronaldo’s acrimonious exit from Man United, Ten Hag has been left without a world-class forward – certainly one who can play through the middle.
Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial haven’t produced the goods consistently and both have experienced far too regular injury problems.
Ten Hag is still two or three signings away from competing with Manchester City. Beating Chelsea to one of the brightest young talents on the planet would set the Dutchman up perfectly to make an assault on the Premier League title race next season.
Manchester United must go all out for Chelsea target Moukoko
The young Dortmund striker would be the perfect signing for Man United in January. The same could be said for Chelsea, but if the west London outfit win the race for the teenager’s signature, there must be something very wrong in the transfer department at Old Trafford.
The Germany international bagged an incredible 142 goals in just 90 games at youth level for Dortmund. And this season, he has six goals and six assists in 22 games for the German giants.
Moukoko possesses absolutely unbelievable pace and has the ability to really stretch opposition defences with his explosiveness.
Considering he is only a teenager, he’s incredibly strong physically, both on the ground and in the air. The Dortmund starlet is also an exceptional finisher.
All round, he really does seem to have all of the attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League.
The Bundesliga’s official website describes the teenager as a forward with ‘incredible goalscoring prowess’. Meanwhile, The Daily Mail label him as a ‘breathtaking’ young talent.
According to The Daily Mirror, United or Chelsea will have to pay Dortmund £26 million to sign Moukoko in January. That seems like truly outstanding value.
Ten Hag must ensure that he doesn’t allow Potter to win the race for the fleet-footed forward next month.
