LASUBEB HOLDS ANNUAL AGRICULTURAL FAIR
The Lagos State Universal Education Board, through its Agricultural Education Training Programme (AETP), recently held its annual agricultural exhibition at the Board’s Premises in Maryland, Ikeja
Speaking during his tour of exhibition stands at the show, Hon. Wahab Alawiye-King, the Executive Chairman of LASUBEB stated that the initiative by the Federal Government is funded through the Universal Basic Education Commission.
He explained that the State Government has equally been supporting the programme with funds to promote agriculture, school commerce and financial management in schools.
Alawiye-King noted that the gathering which had in attendance pupils and teachers of various primary schools across the State was designed to expose and encourage the children to engage in healthy social interaction, imbibe the culture of team spirit, promote nationalism and also develop entrepreneurship skills in pupils.
According to him, basic education in the State has become more holistic in content. As the focus is on the cognitive domain as well as, on the affective and psychomotor aspects of teaching and learning.
While expressing his excitement about the display of various farm produce at the expo, he applauded the school managers for making judicious use of the resources and also encouraged the pupils not to relent in promoting agriculture in the State.
Recall that the AETP is a Universal Basic Education Commission-led programme, designed to promote farming amongst pupils in public primary schools to foster agricultural education by teaching pupils the processes of preparing the land for harvest and sales.
