Mum orders Spider-Man cake for her son’s third birthday… but what turns up is so bad it looks ‘like play-doh’
A MUM was shocked when she received the bespoke Spiderman cake she ordered for her son’s birthday but it looked very different to what she asked for.
South African Isabel was “gutted” when the botched bake arrived.
She had requested a red and blue Spiderman cake with edible decorations and frosting and provided a reference image to be sure there wasn’t a mix up.
On Facebook she wrote: “My son could not stop talking about me getting him a Spiderman cake for his 3rd birthday last week – to my shock is the cake I ordered vs the cake I received.”
She uploaded a photo of both the cake she asked for and the one she got.
The independent cake confirmed that he would be able to replicate the cute Spiderman cake, but sadly that wasn’t the case.
The icing was torn and patched up and some of the decorations were broken.

She said: “I did not want anything complicated but she still couldn’t deliver.”
She added: “I don’t know what happened – I’ve ordered twice from her in the past but this is the first time she has used fondant.
“The Spiderman was not even edible! I only noticed after my son had already bitten into it.”
The mum requested a refund this is yet to be processed.
Fellow shoppers were quick to comment.
One, who was a pro baker, said: “I don’t get why they’ve covered it in fondant when the cake you gave them for reference is clearly a buttercream cake?
“The printed image is so dark and zero need for it to be fondant backed either.
“The fondant looks like elephant skin because it dried out too much before they’ve put it on the cake.
“And it looks like there’s no buttercream underneath it – which you can see through the tear near the top, and the toppers are nothing like what was asked for.
“They have no business selling cakes to anyone!”
