WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University freshman forward Al Emerllahu has been named KCAC Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career, the league office announced today (Dec. 19).
"Al's development this early in his career has been great to be a part of," said Friends men's basketball head coach Austin McBeth. "He's really starting to buy into his role, and his confidence increases each game. Very proud of him and his hard work!"
Emerllahu followed up his first career double-double with arguably the best performance of his career last Tuesday night (Dec. 13) vs. Tabor College.
The San Antonio, Texas native produced another double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds to power the Falcons to an 83-72 victory over the Bluejays.
Emerllahu is now averaging in double-figure scoring (10.4 ppg) for the season along with 5.1 rebounds.
The Falcons are currently off for the Christmas break and will next play an exhibition at NCAA D-II Missouri Western State University on Dec. 28 in St. Joseph, Mo. The next KCAC outing for the Falcons will be at York University on Jan. 4.
