I’m a McDonald’s manager and I tried Aldi’s dupe Big Mac, here are my honest thoughts
A MCDONALD’S manager sampled Aldi’s cut-price dupe of the Big Mac to see what it was like – and he was not impressed.
Daniel Parker, 20, was intrigued to find out whether the copycat supermarket burger lived up to the original.
The bargain basement Big Stack is cooked in the microwave and will set you back just £1.79.
It has almost identical packaging to McDonald’s world-famous Big Mac, which costs about £3.19.
Daniel stuck them both side by side for a taste test that he showed off to his army of followers on social media.
But he found the Big Stack was almost impossible to pick up once he’d heated it up.
Daniel said: “See that microwave stuff. That’s too hot.”
He took a big bite but appeared to almost instantly regret it as he was nearly sick.
Daniel said: “That tastes like Rustler’s mate. That is reeking.”
He coughed and choked on the burger before he spat it back up onto the plate.
Next up, was the Big Mac that he’d picked up from a McDonald’s.
That seemed to be a totally different experience and Daniel enjoyed it. He said: “That’s a lot better.”
After trying both Daniel gave his verdict, and it’s probably not a big surprise what his favourite was.
He said: “Big Mac ten out of ten. Big Stack in the bin.”
Daniel’s fans on Tiktok reckon the chicken nuggets and hash browns from Aldi’s are much better.
Others weighed in with how they thought he should have done the taste test differently.
One told him: “You should do it blind that way you’re not opinionated.”
While another follower said: “Let it cool down a bit.”
Daniel asked them what they think he should try out next.
Student Daniel is a manager at one of McDonald’s Glasgow branches and has become a big deal on Tiktok.
He gives an insight into what it’s like to work at the fast food giant and how he stays in shape while always eating their stuff.
