Report: Ten Hag has 'chosen' £106 million striker as number 1 transfer target for Man Utd

Goncalo Ramos is reportedly the number one striker target for Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.

That’s according to a report from Italian website Calcio Mercato who claim that the Manchester Unietd boss has ‘chosen’ Ramos as his number one centre-forward for the future.

Ten Hag desperately needs to add a top-class striker to his ranks at Old Trafford, if he is to guide his side to any kind of success over the next few years.

Cristiano Ronaldo has left United, and Ten Hag’s side now lack any kind of focal point to their attacking play through the middle. It seems as though the former Ajax boss has a really exciting plan up his sleeve to solve that problem though…

Manchester United eyeing Goncalo Ramos deal

Calcio Mercato reckon that the 21-year-old Benfica hitman is Ten Hag’s priority striker transfer target. And i think he would be a fabulous addition for Man United.

The young Benfica starlet looks like a real player, and he scored a stunning hat-trick for Portugal against Switzerland at the World Cup this winter.

Ramos has bagged 14 goals and six assists in 21 games for Benfica so far this season. The Portuguese starlet has absolutely everything needed to succeed in the modern game. He is quick along the ground, powerful, strong in the air and is a superb finisher – as he demonstrated out in Qatar.

Now, Ramos has a €120 million release clause inserted into his current contract, and Benfica won’t be selling him in the January transfer window unless that clause is activated.

Whether Manchester United are prepared to spend that kind of cash on Goncalo Ramos is highly doubtful, especially midway through a season.

Perhaps waiting until the summer will be the prudent play, by which time the 21-year-old may be pushing for a move to the Premier League.
