New Study Confirms Abortion Bans Will Save Hispanic Babies From Abortions

0

Pro-abortion researchers are trying to put a negative spin on pro-life laws with claims that they disproportionately harm Hispanic/Latino women.

But state abortion bans actually are saving unborn babies’ lives. And research indicates almost all women who have their babies, despite initially seeking an abortion, are later glad their child was not aborted.

This week, the Los Angeles Times reported about a new study from pro-abortion researchers at the UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute, which claims the overturning of Roe v. Wade negatively affects more than 5 million Latino women. Many of them live in Florida and Texas where abortions are limited or banned.

Speaking with the LA Times, Sonja Diaz, founding director of the institute, accused politicians of ignoring how these laws hurt the Latino community.

“Latinas continue to be invisible, disposable and inconsequential,” Diaz said, forgetting how her pro-abortion position treats their unborn babies in the same way.

In contrast, polls consistently show most Hispanic/Latino Americans believe unborn babies should be protected from abortion. A May poll from Trafalgar found 64 percent of Hispanic Americans believe most or all abortions should be illegal. In 2021, another poll from the University of Houston/Texas Southern University found 58 percent of Hispanic/Latino Texans support heartbeat laws that protect unborn babies by banning abortions once their heartbeat is detectable.

Yet, Diaz claims to be advocating for their best interests. The study from her institute concluded by recommending that states “help” Latino families by adding language to their constitutions to ensure abortions without limits will be legal for years to come.

According to the LA Times:

She said that where young Latinas live dictates much about their collective future and the inequities they may experience with not being able to choose whether they have a child. …

Diaz said Latinas face layers of challenges, given that healthcare access varies depending on where they live, the potential language barriers that come with seeking care and health insurance status.

Killing unborn babies is not a solution to these problems. Struggling mothers and unborn babies of all races and backgrounds deserve access to health care and support. But increasingly, they are being pressured toward abortion.

Meanwhile, pro-life laws are saving thousands of unborn babies’ lives all across the country, and mothers in these states are expressing thankfulness that their babies are alive.

A Texas mother, Tamara Nelson, recently told the New York Times that, despite her financial struggles, she is glad that she did not abort her son Cason, who is 6 months old. Instead, she and her four children found help from Blue Haven Ranch, a new maternity home founded by a pro-life couple in Argyle.

Nelson’s son is one of thousands of babies who have been saved from abortion since the Texas heartbeat law went into effect more than a year ago. In September 2021, Texas became the first state in almost 50 years that the courts allowed to enforce a pre-viability abortion ban. Then, in June – two days after Cason’s birth, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in a historic ruling and began allowing states to protect unborn babies from abortion again.

Currently, 14 states are enforcing pro-life laws that prohibit or strictly limit the killing of unborn babies in abortions, and eight others are fighting in court to do the same.

Researchers estimate up to 10,000 unborn babies already have been saved from abortion since these laws went into effect this summer, and hundreds of thousands more are expected to be saved from death in the coming years.
