A health department in Gurgaon, India, has increased the number of samples it sends for genome sequencing to 10 in the wake of the recent spike in covid cases in China and other countries. All positive samples will be sent to Maharshi Dayanand University (Mdu) Rohtak for further analysis. This comes as the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has directed all states to follow procedures to detect new strains of the virus at the earliest possible point.
