The city corporation in Coimbatore is trying to address the issue of stray cattle. They have caught two cows in the past two days and fined their owners 10000 rupees each. Dr Saravanan who recently took charge as corporation zoo director said the stray cattle were being caught with the involvement of councillors from the respective areas. Corporation commissioner M Prathap meanwhile warned that fine would be imposed only on the firsttime offenders. If their cattle are caught for the second time corporation officials will lodge a police complaint and the owners will face criminal action moreover the cattle will not be returned they will be auctioned and the proceeds will be deposited in the treasury. Santhi Murugan chairman of the work committee city corporation said the stray cattle menace was the second issue that the residents complained about the most after the stray dog menace. I hope that the action being taken by the officials will yield sustained results.
