Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation struggles with finding a meeting hall and its budget
The Hubballi Municipal Corporation (HMC) has been having problems holding its monthly general body meetings because the existing meeting hall is not adequate. The HMC is now planning to send a fresh proposal for a council hall worth Rs 15 crore with the design for a new building. The HMC hall in Hubballi could not be increased in size, as experts said that the work may damage the stability of the structure. After inspecting the stability of the building, the experts from the Dharwad-based SDM College of Engineering and Technology (SDMCET) said that the old building lacks stability and advised against holding the general body meetings there. SDMCET experts said a higher study would be conducted in the presence of experts from Bengaluru-based Bureau Veritas before submitting the final report. The HMC officials have written a letter to Bureau Veritas to conduct a modern study to accurately measure the stability and durability of the building.
