The municipal corporation officials removed an illegal fish market that was running on the roadside near the Chand Cinema in Ludhiana. They claimed that over two dozen meat and fish vendors had illegally established the market, making the area unhygienic and disturbing the movement of traffic. The waste from the market was also being illegally dumped in the drain, adding to the pollution in the water body. The civic body had been conducting drives against illegal slaughtering and encroachments on roadsides across the city, and clear instructions had already been issued to all the vendors to get the meat slaughtered only at the municipal modern slaughterhouse.
