Police said the narcotics smuggling module originated from Pakistan and exposed the direct involvement of Pakistan-based militant handlers in pumping narcotics into Kashmir. It said a Pakistan-based militant handler originally hailing from Keran in northern Kashmir, Shakir Ali Khan, has been identified as the main supplier of narcotics to his son Tahmeed Khan on this side of the Line of Control (LoC).
