DC: Enforce road safety guidelines

On Monday, the Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru, K. V. Rajendra, held a meeting with officials from various departments to discuss measures for enforcing road safety guidelines and improving traffic flow in the district. He instructed officials to take steps for management of hassle-free traffic, including the removal of roadside objects that distract drivers, proper sign boards, creation of awareness about road safety rules, improvement of lighting, better functioning of the intelligent traffic management system, provision of critical care ambulances, and other measures. He also wanted the police, public works department, regional transport authority, and urban planning and development authority to work together for the identification of accident spots. Local bodies, the nhai, and the urban planning and development authority must provide all possible help for repairing damaged roads, highways, state highways, and national highways. The officials were also asked to provide the details of road safety measures initiated by the department once every 15 days, through a virtual meeting, and once a month, through a physical meeting.
