FDA adds new major food allergen to its list of regulated ingredients
In 2004, the US Food and Drug Administration created the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act that identified eight foods as "major food allergens": milk, eggs, fish, Crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans.
