Police said a person was critically injured when a man began shooting inside a Richmond, Virginia hospital. Richmond police said that the suspect had come to the hospital for a mental health evaluation when he began shooting around 4 am on Friday. The victim's injuries were critical, but not life-threatening. Richmond Police Chief Rick Edwards said that a Chesterfield police officer who was also at the hospital for an unrelated incident returned fire with his weapon, but the suspect was not injured. Edwards said the suspect was taken into custody when he surrendered.
