Macworld.com

Macworld

Usually, when Apple releases an AirTag update, it rolls it out in waves over several weeks to balance the load on its servers. One of those firmware updates was supposed to begin rolling out on Wednesday with the version 2.0.73 update reaching 100 percent of users by April 9.

But that gradual rollout didn’t happen–instead, it went to all active AirTags in the wild at the same time. And the reason why is kind of funny. Over on X (formally Twitter) @iSWUpdates spilled the beans... Читать дальше...

‘GoFetch’ flaw in Apple’s M-series chips can leak hidden encryption keys

Macworld.com

Macworld

A group of university researchers has revealed a vulnerability in Apple’s M-series chips that can be exploited to gain access to cryptographic keys. Dubbed “GoFetch,” the vulnerability can be used by an attacker to access a user’s encrypted files.

On the GoFetch overview website, the researchers explain that GoFetch targets the M-series chips’ data memory-dependent prefetcher (DMP), which predicts the memory addresses that running code will use, to optimize performance. Читать дальше...

However, once you enable this setting, it affects all external audio devices... Читать дальше...
