The death of a Colorado woman who disappeared nearly four years ago has been ruled a homicide. Authorities revealed the result of Suzanne Morphew's autopsy on Monday. Morphew disappeared in May 2020. The 49-year-old woman's remains were found in September 2023. Her husband, Barry Morphew, was charged with murder and other crimes in 2021 but the charges were later dropped. Republican state attorneys general are challenging a new federal regulation that mandates protections for transgender students at schools. In a lawsuit filed Monday in federal court in Louisiana, the states argue that the recently announced rule harms girls. The Food and Drug Administration has finalized a rule to regulate medical tests that have long escaped oversight. The rule was announced Monday. It is designed to improve the accuracy and reliability of tests developed at large laboratories, including hospitals and universities. The FDA has warned for years that inaccurate test results can lead to unnecessary treatment and delays in getting proper care. Three Louisiana police officers were wounded by gunfire in a standoff with a man who was later killed by a police sharpshooter. WGNO-TV reports Sheriff Joseph Lopinto says a sniper from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office shot and killed the suspect on Sunday at a house in Kenner where he had held off police after shooting three officers who tried to enter the house. Local authorities say Interstate 40 has reopened in both directions as fire crews continue watch over a controlled burn of remaining fuel from a freight train derailment near the Arizona-New Mexico state line.
