WHILE US-based transport network company Uber’s effort to serve this country’s citizens on the ground has hit the brakes, chairman of the State Enterprises Joint Select Committee (JSC) David Small yesterday expressed alarm that the sky has become the limit for some people who work for State owned Caribbean Airlines (CAL) to use, “CAL as their own personal Air Uber.” Small raised his concerns about this situation during a public hearing with officials from CAL at Tower D of the Port-of-Spain International Waterfront Centre.

CHAIRMAN Emeritus of the ANSA McAL Group Anthony Norman Sabga was a legend, a business pioneer and a Caribbean man. But his legacy was his family, son Norman Sabga said while delivering the eulogy at his father’s funeral at the Church of the Assumption in Maraval. Sabga died on May 3 at his St Clair home. He was 94.

BULLYING is taking place even in so-called ‘prestige’ schools. Two videos, recorded on cellular phones and uploaded to social media, are showing students of St Mary’s College (CIC) in Port-of-Spain engaging in bullying. In one video, several students savagely attack and repeatedly kick a student as he lies helplessly on the floor trying to protect his head with his arms from the blows.

PRIME Minister Dr Keith Rowley yesterday welcomed a public outcry over the Public Accounts and its Auditor General Report on non-accountability, saying, “what is mentioned in the Auditor General’s Report is scandalous.” Speaking on Radio I95.5 FM, Rowley said, “We see this every year and it appears there are no consequences.
