Two police officers, an ambulance driver, and a guest worker were arrested for extorting five TVs, 47,000 rupees, and a gas stove from the victim. The incident occurred on Tuesday, December 20. The southern railway has started work on an elephant underpass between Madukkarai and Ettimadai railway stations. The work was halted for nine hours from 730am to 430pm, and the stretch was open for trains after 430pm. Four mainline electric multiple unit memu train services were fully cancelled and two other train services were partially cancelled to facilitate the work. A bus in Ludhiana, India, went over a divider on a gill flyover and into oncoming traffic. The bus hit a pole and then climbed a divider before crashing into another bus.
