Man, mother get jail term for abetting wife's suicide in Coimbatore

The district mahila court on Thursday sentenced a 29-year-old man to seven years rigorous imprisonment for abetting the suicide of his wife in 2016. The court also sentenced his mother to one-year rigorous imprisonment for subjecting the deceased to cruelty.

Police constable, aide arrested for extortion

Two police officers, an ambulance driver, and a guest worker were arrested for extorting five TVs, 47,000 rupees, and a gas stove from the victim. The incident occurred on Tuesday, December 20. Erode weavers cut down production

Coimbatore corporation starts work to eliminate stray cattle menace

60-year-old woman found murdered in Coimbatore

In India, 60-year-old woman named Sarojini was found murdered in her home on Wednesday evening. The deceased was identified as Sarojini's wife, Murugaiyan of North Street in Jadayampalayam village. Southern Railway launches elephant underpass work in Coimbatore

The southern railway has started work on an elephant underpass between Madukkarai and Ettimadai railway stations. The work was halted for nine hours from 730am to 430pm, and the stretch was open for trains after 430pm. Major mishap averted as bus loses its front wheels
