Uttarakhand tunnel rescue: Vertical drilling done up to 31 metres, says BRO's ex-DG at Silkyara site

Former DG of Border Roads Organisation Harpal Singh announced that vertical drilling has been done up to 31 meters above the Silkyara-Barkot tunnel site for rescue operations. Drilling 86 meters vertically is needed to create an escape route for 41 workers stuck for 15 days. Pipes with a diameter of 1.2 meters could be laid vertically through the tunnel roof as second option.
