Mizoram's Lalduhoma: The giant killer who came in from the cold

Lalduhoma, a former IPS officer from Mizoram, caused a major political upheaval by unseating incumbent Zoramthanga as chief minister. Lalduhoma, a household name in Mizoram, was the first MP to be disqualified under the anti-defection law. Born in Tualpui village, Lalduhoma excelled in academics and cleared the civil services exam. As an IPS officer, he was known for his crackdown on the drug mafia. Lalduhoma played a role in bringing the Mizo National Front to the negotiating table. He later joined Congress as an MP from Mizoram.
