Fourteen Bangladesh nationals, who had been living in Assam for several decades, were apprehended by police in Baksa district and sent to a transit camp in Goalpara district. Nine of them were female and five were male, with most of them being above 50 years old. While no records of their involvement in anti-social activities were found, they were unable to produce any documents supporting their Indian citizenship. The transit camp currently houses over 200 foreigners, including those declared foreigners by the foreigners' tribunals and those convicted for visa violations.
