I raided the bins outside M&S and was left stunned – a food bank would have thrilled at the delivery
A MAN has been left stunned after raiding the bins outside Marks & Spencer.
The pro ‘dumpster diver’ – who “audits waste” in the UK – is no stranger to turning up to huge stores and finding treasure that they’ve thrown away.
But when he went to his local M&S, he couldn’t believe how much food had been thrown away – when it could easily have gone to the food bank.
“Let’s go and see if there’s anything at Marks and Spencer’s, shall we?” he began his TikTok video.
Opening the first bin, he spotted loads of bananas, as well as a whole heap of oranges.
“Look how many oranges there is!” he exclaimed.
Moving onto the next bin, he found even more bananas – all of which were in bunches and didn’t appear to be rotten or bruised.
“Look at all them bananas,” he said.
“So many.
“Yeah. These bananas could definitely have gone through a food bank.”
And people in the comments section were quick to agree that the fruit should have been given to a food bank or shelter instead of just thrown away.
“Food bank will pick these up surely?!?” one wrote.
“My god what a waste of good food,” another added.
“It should go to a food bank, disgusting of Marks and Spencer!”
As a third commented: “What is the harm of selling these products off to the general public really cheaply to get the produce out of the business rather than chuck it?”
“Why not have a day/time homeless people and people in a budget to go and collect what their gonna throw?” someone else suggested.
“They’re not supposed to dump them…” another raged.
While someone else said: “I’m shocked!”
“Or if no good for human consumption what about zoo’s etc ?!? Sooo wasteful!!” another commented.
“Disgraceful when families are struggling,” someone else said.
As another agreed, writing: “I find it disgusting that they are disposing of all this when it could be helping a family or homeless in need!!!!”
M&S has been contacted for comment.
