Damp and mould can cause respiratory problems and infections, allergies or asthma, as well as affect your immune system, according to the NHS.

Fortunately, there’s an easy way to prevent condensation while keeping the warmth in your house from escaping.

The NHS explains: “Moulds produce allergens (substances that can cause an allergic reaction), irritants and, sometimes, toxic substances.

“Inhaling or touching mould spores may cause an allergic reaction, such as sneezing, a runny nose, red eyes and skin rash. Moulds can also cause asthma attacks.”

According to experts at Abelglass, condensation can spread quickly if you don’t treat it.

Condensation often occurs when the temperature outside is colder than inside.

Although experts recommend keeping the heating on and allowing airflow into the house to banish excess moisture in the air – many of us are trying to avoid using the heating due to pricey energy bills.

Luckily, the housing experts revealed to Oxfordmail there’s a much cheaper alternative and it’ll keep the heat in your home while stopping condensation.

Abelglass said a window insulation kit is a good, cheap alternative.

And the best part is you can get them for a super cheap price.

Window insulation kits can be purchased for as little as £3.49 on Amazon.

These plastic film sheets work by trapping air between the plastic layer and the window, which prevents the build-up of condensation.

It also doubles as a way of keeping the cold out as it prevents cold draughts from getting through – saving you from having to turn the heating on.

And if you really want to cut corners – many people have insulated their windows using even cheaper alternatives such as using bubble wrap.

Plus one money-saving whizz has revealed how to keep the heat locked into your house.

The cosy club revealed we lose lots of heating because of our floors – especially if they aren’t carpeted.

“A lot of heat is lost through floors, and your feet have a big play in your body heat.

“So cover as much as possible,” they added.

They recommended grabbing as many rugs as possible to keep the heat in and keep your feet warm.
