Mystery ‘Gloucester gimp’ seen stalking village before disappearing into the night

A new black-clad figure has been scaring trick or treaters less than a week after another was found guilty of being a gimp.

The so-called Somerset Gimp was unmasked as 32-year-old Joshua Hunt, who was found guilty of two public order offences on October 27 after terrorising residents in Bleadon.

But it now seems another gimp figure, dressed all in black, has arrived in Twigworth, a village near Gloucester.

Residents were out trick or treating on Tuesday night when a ‘scrawny’ and ‘menacing’ figure appeared.

James Patterson, who lives in the village and spotted the gimp, said: ‘I was just taking my son out trick or treating when I saw a black, scrawny, somewhat menacing looking figure in darting and dodging down the roads in the Bloor housing estate.’

Pictures taken by Mr Paterson, though distorted by motion blur, show an ominous figure dressed all in black.

He was seen heading towards a housing development before disappearing into the night.

The identity of this new figure is not yet known.

The appearance drew comparisons to the Somerset Gimp, who plagued towns for years in a latex body suit, jumping out of bushes to scare people.

The ‘Somerset Gimp’ is thought to have terrorised locals for months by writhing around on the ground and making threatening noises late at night before he was finally unmasked.

Hunt denied leaping out of bushes at women while dressed in the black latex suit, but he was found guilty at Bristol magistrates court.

District Judge Joanna Dickens fined him £100 and told him to pay £200 compensation to each of his victims plus £620 prosecution costs.

She accepted Hunt had apologised and spent one month in prison on remand, MailOnline reported

Avon and Somerset Police confirmed previously Hunt had been arrested on suspicion of causing a public nuisance over a series of other ‘gimp’ incidents in the Cleeve, Claverham and Yatton areas of the county last year.
