Don Trump Jr. admits to court he signed fraudulent financial documents
As the Trump fraud trial resumed in New York Thursday, Donald Trump Jr. was confronted with his signature on a document attesting to fraudulent property evaluations — and he waved it away as no big deal.
The moment was flagged by Adam Klasfeld, a correspondent for The Messenger.
"Don Jr. is shown a loan document from Deutsche Bank Trust Company Americas dated March 13, 2017. He signed the document as 'attorney in fact' for his father," Klasfeld posted to X. Among the things the document attested to was, “The foregoing presents fairly in all material respects the financial condition of Guarantor at the period presented.”
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?
This would appear to contradict Trump Jr.'s prior claims on the stand to not have any knowledge of the fraudulent property valuations the Trump Organization was using to get better loan terms and other financial arrangements.
Faced with his signature on the document, Trump Jr. simply said, "I'm sure I've signed dozens of these in my time as trustee."
New York Attorney General Letitia James is seeking $250 million in fines and the dissolution of the Trump Organization in New York State. Judge Arthur Engoron has already partially ruled for her on the merits in summary judgment, leaving the main focus of the ongoing trial an assessment of damages.
