Five-star center Pat Ngongba’s recruitment is going down to the wire
By ADAM ZAGORIA
The recruitment of five-star Class of 2024 Paul VI (VA) big man Patrick Ngongba is going down to the wire.
Kentucky coach John Calipari and Duke coach Jon Scheyer were both in at his high school to see Ngongba on Monday, per his coach.
Ngongba’s PVI teammate Darren Harris is one of four players committed to Duke, which has the No. 1-ranked class per 247Sports.com and would only get stronger if Ngongba commits on Saturday.
He most recently visited Kansas State this past weekend.
Before that he was at Duke’s Countdown to Craziness along with five-stars V.J. Edgecombe and Cooper Flagg, who on Monday committed to the Blue Devils.
He visited Kentucky in late September.

Ngongba will certainly impact whichever program he chooses.
“Pat brings a lot of versatility, has ability to be tough around the basket, rebound and rim protect, and has passing and decision-making skills that allow him to be very effective on the perimeter,” Paul VI coach Glenn Farello said. “He can shoot it from all ranges. High-efficiency player. Great in pick-and-roll. And is adept at all ball screen coverages.”
