Report: Manager ‘vetoed’ the signing of Spurs midfielder twice in the summer
Takvim have revealed that Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk was not keen on bringing Tanguy Ndombele to the club in the summer but the Turkish club decided to sign the player anyway.
Ndombele has started just one game since his loan switch to Galatasaray and has played a total of just 123 minutes across seven matches so far this season (Transfermarkt).
Earlier this week, we relayed a report from Fotospor which explained that Buruk had lost his patience with the midfielder due to his attitude and lack of professionalism.
The outlet explained that the 26-year-old was 6kg overweight when he arrived in Istanbul and despite being asked to adhere to a rigorous diet regime, he has only managed to lose 2kg so far while his body fat percentage is still hovering around the 20 per cent mark.
Buruk never wanted Tanguy Ndombele from Spurs
Takvim have now explained that Buruk tried in vain to block the Tottenham man’s signing in the summer.
It is revealed that Galatasaray turned their attention to the Frenchman after failing with their efforts to sign Lazio’s Matías Vecino but their Turkish club’s head coach is said to have ‘vetoed Ndombele twice’.
This was because Buruk was not convinced after going through the Spurs star’s ‘psychological and mental’ track record, but the club decided to go ahead and sign him anyway.
Spurs Web Opinion
I do wonder if there is an element of Ndombele’s reputation preceding him when he goes to clubs and him becoming demotivated right from the start since he is not starting with a clean slate. It now looks quite likely that Galatasaray would terminate the former Lyon man’s contract in January.
