Report: Premier League club slap huge price tag on apparent Spurs target
Sky Sports have revealed that Brentford would want £100m for Ivan Toney and plan on keeping hold of the striker until next summer.
Over the last couple of months, multiple outlets have reported that Tottenham, Arsenal, and Chelsea are all eyeing a move for Toney, who has allegedly expressed his intention to leave Brentford in January when his ban lapses (Daily Express).
However, Fichajes.net suggested last week that the likes of Spurs and Arsenal might hesitate to pay the €70m (£61m) price tag that the Bees have put on their star striker.
Brentford want an astronomical fee for Ivan Toney
Sky Sports have now claimed that even though Toney is on the radar of several top clubs, reports of a £50m-£60m fee have been met with derision within the West London club’s boardroom.
It is alleged that Brentford are planning to hang on to the England international until next summer and that it would take ‘a monumental offer’ to convince them to sell.
The publication adds that many at the club believe the 27-year-old is worth £100m even though he would only have 18 months left on his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium in January.
Spurs Web Opinion
We know that Brentford can be notoriously hard to negotiate with, which was why Tottenham seemingly withdrew from the race to sign David Raya in the summer. So, I would be surprised if we see Spurs make a big effort for Toney in January.
