USC student alleges Lyft driver raped her outside apartment near campus

LOS ANGELES — An investigation was continuing Thursday into an alleged rape by a Lyft driver of a USC student outside her apartment near the University Park campus.

The alleged assault occurred about 3 a.m. Wednesday on the 3600 block of South Grand Avenue, according to the USC Department of Public Safety.

“A female student took a Lyft ride from a club in West Hollywood to her apartment near the University Park Campus,” the DPS said in a crime alert. “When they arrived at her apartment, the Lyft driver raped the student in his car.”

The vehicle was described as a black sedan. The suspect was described as about 25 to 35 years old, with black hair, a black beard and a thin build.
