Man arrested after homophobic attack in London
A ‘dangerous’ man who was wanted by police in connection with a homophobic attack has been arrested.
Alex Ogden was arrested in Southwark today after a member of the public recognised him.
The Metropolitan Police arrested him on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and he remains in custody.
Ogden is alleged tp have violently assaulted a man aged in his 50s at an address in Islington, north London, on October 18.
The victim was left needing hospital treatment after the assault.
Ogden has been at large since fleeing the attack.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Ridley, of the Met’s Central North Public Protection Unit, said: ‘While he was here he befriended a man, who he told he was homeless, and the man allowed him to stay with him.
‘He then launched an unprovoked attack on the man with a knife and the victim sustained serious facial injuries as a result, including a broken nose.’
