Jack Harlow joins Kentucky's Democratic governor on campaign trail

Rapper Jack Harlow joined Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (D) on the campaign trail in Louisville on Thursday as Beshear battles for votes against Republican Attorney General David Cameron in his reelection bid.

The Grammy-winner attended a get-out-the-vote rally at the University of Louisville in his home town with Beshear, who he described as a “hell of a stand-up guy.”

Harlow said that the two had organically developed a relationship in the last year and a half after the governor initially reached out to him. 

“Y’all are holding the right signs,” he told a crowd holding signs touting the Democratic governor.

Polling in the race has favored Beshear, who is attempting to be reelected as one of a small group of Democratic governors of states which voted for former President Trump in 2020.

A poll from early October showed Beshear with a 16-point lead over Cameron, who has struggled to fundraise against the relatively popular incumbent governor.

The Kentucky gubernatorial race is expected to be one of the closest races nationally in 2023 elections and could be a bellwether for 2024 campaigns. All eyes are also on Virginia, where every seat of the state’s legislature is up for grabs.

Early voting for Tuesday’s election began Thursday in Kentucky and continues through Saturday.
