The searches were part of an investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against Anand and other persons connected with the case. The ED initiated the investigation on the basis of the prosecution complaint filed by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) against Raaj Kumar Anand and other persons or entities connected with the case for commission of offence under various sections of the Customs Act, 1962.
