The 2p hack to make bin stinks go – and it’s done and dusted in less than a minute
EVERYONE knows that bins can sometimes let off a nasty smell into your home.
After holding all the rubbish and leftover foods, it’s only natural that it can develop a smell over time.
But one cleaning fan has shared just the trick to prevent bad odours and it doesn’t cost a fortune either.
Beatriz, who goes by the name of Make Life Simpler on TikTok, regularly makes super helpful videos.
She specialises in making the home more organised.
In one particular video, which has gone viral, she’s revealed a savvy technique to get the bin smelling nice again.
Beatriz captioned the video: “How to prevent bad odours from trash cans.
“Add 3-5 drops of your favourite essential oil to a felt pad and place it inside the trash can.”
She filmed herself cutting a felt pad which can be bought from stores including Amazon and Screwfix.
Felt protector pads are small round or square pads of felt that are usually used to help fix a product.
It often has a soft padding on one side, and a gluey side to make it easy to stick to objects.
Once she has one of her pads, she then dabbles some of her favourite essential oil.
Beatriz then sticks it to the inside of her bin.
The video attracted lots of attention with many people rushing to the comments section to share their thoughts.
One wrote: “Brilliant. I have the Costco size pack of these going on ten years and not enough furniture legs. Lol.”
Another added: “I do this with a pack of panty liners from the dollar store. I just cut it up in small squares.”
Someone else suggested: “Just use a cotton ball and put it underneath the plastic bag.”
And another person stated: “Anytime I do this I end up getting an aversion to the smell I put in there because it starts to smell like garbage in my head.”
