In her video, TikTok user Gemma Bray (@the_organised_mum) asked her followers: “Is your washing machine smelling a little bit whiffy and you want to get it back smelling its best?”
While she acknowledged the benefits of using white vinegar to clean your machine, Gemma explained how to maintain a fresh smell.
“We’ve all heard about using white vinegar in a hot wash in an empty drum to help clean it out but that is just part of a wider strategy to getting your washing machine smelling fresher for longer,” she said.
Gemma recommended paying attention to your detergent dispenser drawer.
She explained to her followers: “These things can get really gunky.
“Products can build up so make sure you take it out regularly and wash it in hot soapy water, dry it thoroughly, and pop it back.”
For her second step, the cleaning pro revealed an often overlooked area of your machine.
She told viewers: “The next thing to pay attention to is the seal in your drum.
“Things can get stuck in there and over time they can start to smell.
“In between washes try and leave the door open as much as you can, that’s going to help the drum to air.
“This stops it from being damp, which can lead to that horrible musty smell.”
Another cleaning enthusiast revealed the area of your dishwasher you’re forgetting to scrub.
A second TikToker shared her handy hack that leaves you bathroom tiles sparkling.
An interior expert showed his followers a three-step method for banishing mold.
