A Hartford man barred from having guns because of a previous felony conviction was found with a loaded firearm and arrested Sunday in Wallingford where police said he fell asleep in a vehicle outside a McDonald’s.

Police officers responded to the McDonald’s at 608 North Colony Road at about 1:49 a.m. after an employee there reported seeing the driver of a white sedan asleep in the drive-thru, according to the Wallingford Police Department.

Two officers who were the first on the scene approached the vehicle and noticed a silver and black pistol in the area of the center console, police said. The driver, identified as 33-year-old Felix Sierra, was immediately detained and later arrested, according to police.

He was taken into custody and charged with criminal possession of a pistol, criminal possession of ammunition, carrying a pistol without a permit and illegal possession of weapons in a motor vehicle.

Sierra was later released from custody after posting a $100,000 bond.
