Five TV showrunners and/or directors will reveal secrets behind their projects when they join Gold Derby’s special “Meet the Experts” Q&A event with 2024 awards contenders. They will participate in two video discussions to premiere on Monday, November 13, at 4:00 p.m. PT; 7:00 p.m. ET. We’ll have a one-on-one with our senior editor Daniel Montgomery and a roundtable chat with all of the group together.

The Crowded Room (Apple TV+)
Synopsis: In Manhattan in the summer of 1979, a young man is arrested for a shocking crime, and an unlikely investigator must solve the mystery behind it before the true criminal strikes again.
Bio: Akiva Goldsman is an Oscar winner for “A Beautiful Mind.” Other projects have included “Fringe,” “Underground,” “Star Trek: Discovery” and “Star Trek: Picard.”
The Diplomat (Netflix)
Synopsis: In the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, lands in a high-profile job for which she is not suited, with tectonic implications for her marriage and her political future.
Bio: Debora Cahn was an Emmy nominee for “The West Wing” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” Other projects have included “”Vinyl,” “Fosse/Verdon” and “Homeland.”
Justified: City Primeval (FX)
Synopsis: Series based on Elmore Leonard’s novel “City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit” with the return of Timothy Olyphant as Marshal Raylan Givens.
Bio: Michael Dinner is an Emmy winner for “The Wonder Years” among his six career nominations for that show plus “Chicago Hope.” Other projects have included “Justified,” “Sneaky Pete” and Mayans M.C.”
Lessons in Chemistry (Apple TV+)
Synopsis: Set in the 1950s, Elizabeth Zott’s dream of being a chemist is put on hold when she finds herself pregnant, alone, and fired from her lab.
Bio: Lee Eisenberg was a six-time Emmy nominee for “The Office” and “Hello Ladies” and is currently nominated for “Jury Duty.” Other projects have included “WeCrashed,” “Queer as Folk” and “Little America.”
A Murder at the End of the World (FX)
Synopsis: Darby Hart, a Gen Z amateur sleuth, attempts to solve a murder at a secluded retreat.
Bio: Zal Batmanglij’s career has included “The Recordist,” “Sound of My Voice,” “The East” and “The O.C.”
