Five film costume designers will reveal secrets behind their projects when they join Gold Derby’s special “Meet the Experts” Q&A event with 2024 awards contenders. They will participate in two video discussions to premiere on Wednesday, November 15, at 4:00 p.m. PT; 7:00 p.m. ET. Killers of the Flower Moon (Apple Original Films)
Synopsis: When oil is discovered in 1920s Oklahoma under Osage Nation land, the Osage people are murdered one by one – until the FBI steps in to unravel the mystery.
Bio: Jacqueline West was an Oscar nominee for “Quills,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “The Revenant” and “Dune.”
Maestro (Netflix)
Synopsis: This love story chronicles the lifelong relationship of conductor-composer Leonard Bernstein and actress Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein.
Bio: Mark Bridges was an Oscar winner for “The Artist” and “Phantom Thread” and was nominated for “Inherent Vice” and “Joker.”
Napoleon (Sony / Apple Original Films)
Synopsis: The spectacle-filled epic details the checkered rise and fall of French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte and his relentless journey to power through the prism of his addictive, volatile relationship with his wife, Josephine.
Bio: Jany Yates was an Oscar winner for “Gladiator.” Other projects have included “The Martian,” “The Last Duel” and “House of Gucci.” David Crossman’s career has included “Rogue One,” “Solo,” “1917” and “The Batman.”
Oppenheimer (Universal)
Synopsis: The story of American scientist, J. Robert Oppenheimer, and his role in the development of the atomic bomb.
Bio: Ellen Mirojnick was an Emmy winner for “Behind the Candelabra” and was nominated for “Cinderella” and “Bridgerton.” Films have included “The Greatest Showman” and “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.”
Saltburn (Amazon Prime)
Synopsis: A student at Oxford University finds himself drawn into the world of a charming and aristocratic classmate, who invites him to his eccentric family’s sprawling estate for a summer never to be forgotten.
Bio: Sophie Canale was an Emmy nominee for “Bridgerton.” Other projects have included “The Last Kingdom,” “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” and “Artemis Fowl.”
