CORONATION Street fans are in shock as Peter Barlow’s exit storyline has been revealed – and it’s sooner than you think.
The taxi driver – who is played by actor Chris Gascoyne in the ITV soap – is struggling to cope after killing Stephen Reid last month.
Despite being cleared by police, Peter can’t cope with his guilt.
And while he hasn’t turned to drink, he is desperate for a release – and he wants to leave Weatherfield.
But with Carla being frustrated with his actions and behaviour, Peter decided he wanted a change – and a radical one at that.
He told Carla: “When was the last time we just went and relaxed and lived a bit?
“Do you remember my mate Nicky, who lived in Greece, we were going to go crewing for him ages ago?
“Well I was just on the phone to him and he’s doing really well. He’s expanded his business and he’s moved from Greece to Mallorca.
“He said he’s making money hand over fist taking people around the islands, scuba diving.”
Carla thanked him for catching him up on the life and times of someone she’d never met but did concede that she is in desperate need of a holiday.
“I’m not talking about a holiday,” Peter said.
“He’s looking for a crew. What do you say? Me and you? Sailing away into the sunset, just leaving these rainy streets behind.”
Carla was horrified at the thought of it, even when Peter admitted he was struggling.
Peter told her: “That it’s then, just a no then? Because he sets sail next week.”
Carla insisted it was a hard no and walked off leaving Peter to his thoughts – and fans are stunned.
One wrote: “Will Carla leave to Mallorca with Peter? Or will he go alone?!”
