Woman wounded, child uninjured in Oakland shooting
OAKLAND — A 35-year-old woman was shot Wednesday night while sitting in a parked vehicle in East Oakland, but her 3-year-old daughter who was a passenger was not injured, authorities said.
The woman, an Oakland resident, was in stable condition at a hospital recovering from a wound to her arm.
The shooting happened about 8:20 p.m. Wednesday in the 7700 block of Bancroft Avenue.
Authorities said the woman and her daughter were parked outside a liquor store waiting for someone who was buying some items inside.
Police said two men standing outside a short distance away began shooting toward the store, hitting the woman’s vehicle and wounding her.
The shooters fled before police got to the scene. The woman was treated at the scene before being taken to a hospital.
A motive for the shooting is under investigation. Police are trying to determine if the woman was the intended target.
