Authorities identify man found shot to death inside Pittsburg residence

PITTSBURG — Authorities early Thursday identified a man killed in a shooting Tuesday night.

Police in a statement said 41-year-old Peter Polasek was found with a gunshot wound inside a residence in the 900 block of Carpino Avenue. Officers had been called there about 6:25 p.m. Tuesday.

He died there despite receiving rescue efforts from the officers, police said.

Police have not announced an arrest or released any suspect information in the city’s fifth homicide of the year.

The Contra Costa County Coroner’s office released Polasek’s identity.

Police said they believe Polasek knew his shooter and that was no other immediate danger to the area. They have not said what they believe the motive to be.
