Club president expects ‘stratospheric’ offers for reported Spurs target soon
Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt has admitted that he expects big offers to arrive for rumoured Tottenham target Andre Trindade.
The midfielder, known simply as Andre, has set the Brazilian top flight alight over the last few years and he played a key role in Fluminense’s historic Copa Libertadores triumph.
The 22-year-old was the star performer in the final at the Marcana over the weekend, and it was reported by Lance a couple of days ago that Tottenham were one of several clubs to send scouts to watch the youngster in the showpiece event.
According to a recent report from Globo Esporte, Andre is also on the radars of Liverpool, Arsenal, Fulham and West Ham.
The outlet explained that the Reds made an offer for the midfielder during the summer transfer window but the bid was turned down by Fluminense, who were keen to hang on to the player for the rest of their Libertadores campaign.
The publication added that the Brazilian club expect Andre to leave in January, with the midfielder alleged to be valued at €35m (£30.3m).
Bids are expected to arrive for Andre soon
Bittencourt has now said that he expects the youngster to be the biggest sale in Fluminense’s history following the FIFA Club World Cup in December.
When asked about Andre potentially leaving, the club president said (via Globo Esporte): “We are waiting. Today, there is no concrete proposal for Andre.
“But we are sure that after the Club World Cup – he will play in the Club World Cup – a stratospheric proposal will arrive. It could be the biggest sale in the club’s history.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Paying around £30m-£35m for a player who is unproven outside of the Brazilian top flight is a huge gamble. For every Brazilian youngster who has hit the ground running in Europe and developed into a star, there are several who have failed to adapt.
