Trudeau, who was addressing the media, also accused India of violating the Vienna Convention as over 40 Canadian diplomats had to shift out of India after New Delhi threatened to strip them of their diplomatic immunity. The ties between India and Canada  became sour after Trudeau in September alleged a "potential" involvement of Indian agents in the killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on June 18 in British Columbia. Nijjar was designated a terrorist by India in 2020.
