Afghan National shot dead in Karachi, Pakistan

An Afghan national was fatally shot, and his Pakistani wife was wounded in a disturbing shooting incident in Karachi, Pakistan, as reported by local media on Sunday.

The deceased, identified as Meer Afzal, and his wife, Saira Afzal, had planned to move to Afghanistan along with her 14-year-old daughter Ambareen from her previous marriage in light of the ongoing deportation of Afghans to their home country.

However, their decision faced opposition from Saira’s former husband and her nephew, Abu Bakar, who hail from Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The couple’s dispute culminated in a tragic confrontation, with reports indicating that they were shot in Bacha Khan Chowk in Orangi Town.

The authorities swiftly arrested Abu Bakar, who, when taken to the police station, claimed that he had killed Meer Afzal “for the honour.”

Saira had previously married the suspect and shared a daughter named Ambareen. She later divorced him and married Meer Afzal.

In the wake of this incident, the police have initiated a murder investigation and filed a case of attempted murder against both suspects. The injured victim has been hospitalized as authorities seek justice in this tragic case.
