STRICTLY Come Dancing viewers were in tears during tonight’s show as the professional dancers marked Remembrance Sunday.

The results show opened in moving fashion as professional dancers Kai Widdrington and Lauren Oakley took to the dance floor in wartime regalia.

They were cleverly transported to various London backdrops including Hyde Park’s bandstand and London Bridge where they performed lifts and twirls as sweethearts preparing to say goodbye to one another.

One viewer posted on X: “Well… that’s me crying at the pro dance. Stunning story telling.”

Another said: “That was a lovely dance!”

A third wrote: “Beautiful dance.”

Another shared: “Pro dance was outstanding and so emotional. Kai in a uniform.”

The routine meant a great deal to the stars with Lauren writing on Instagram: “An absolute honour to pay our respects to service men and women past and present, doing what I love most. Dancing, expressing & putting my feelings into movement to tell a story.”

While Kai said: “It’s always such a privilege being part of the Strictly pro dances for Remembrance Day. I look back with pride to last years dance where we remembered the Queen alongside so many of our fallen.

“This year it’s even more poignant with so much conflict in the world, we remember and pause to think about those facing the horrors of war today. Let’s celebrate not our differences but our similarities and take time to be kind to each other.”

Later in the show Lauren and Krishnan Guru-Murthy had to perform their Samba to Bamboléo by Gipsy Kings again, while Angela Rippon and her dance partner Kai performed their Paso Doble to Hung Up by Madonna.

Krishan and Lauren were duly sent home by the judges.

Viewers reached for their tissues again when Andrea Bocelli, 65, and his daughter Virginia, 11, performed Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen.

The blind tenor wore a snazzy golden jacket as he plucked the strings of his acoustic guitar while his little girl showcased her impressive vocals.

The duo were treated to a standing ovation, with professional Giovanni Pernice applauding strongly on the dance floor.

The Strictly Come Dancing Blackpool Special returns to the Tower Ballroom on Saturday, November 18 at 18:40pm.
