Stephen Mulhern confirms he’s in talks over replacing Phillip Schofield on huge ITV show
STEPHEN Mulhern has confirmed he is in talks to replace Phillip Schofield as the host of Dancing On Ice, saying: “I’d be crazy not to do it.”
The East London-born presenter, 46, is the frontrunner for the job after the ITV stalwart quit all his roles after admitting to an affair with a young runner on This Morning.
Speaking for the first time about the job, Stephen told The Sun: “You know what, we are talking about Dancing On Ice, 100 percent, but nothing’s been confirmed.
“I’d be crazy not to do it.
“It’s that thing isn’t it…. I still know some of the team obviously, and Holly is a dream partner to work with.
“I think there’s a right time and a right place.
“But, you know, I stood in for Philip on Dancing on Ice before when he had Covid and that was an amazing night.”
Holly Willoughby, who has hosted it since 2006, has still not confirmed whether she will return to front the show when it begins in January.
The beloved presenter, 42, has been taking time out from the spotlight after quitting This Morning following a foiled plot to murder her last month.
Former S Club 7 singer Hannah Spearritt, 42, retired boxer Ricky Hatton, 45, and Olympian Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards, 59, are among the stars taking part.
Stephen has also just landed a job fronting ITV1’s reboot of Deal Or No Deal which will hit screens next Monday.
He said: “It’s funny because ITV have constantly said to me, ‘We want to find a big one for you’, and I think this is it.
“When this happened I had to pinch myself a couple times because it’s just by far the ultimate game show.
“Don’t forget I’ve been doing this, from kids’ TV on CITV, for nearly 30 years now, which is nuts.
“This is the one that people are gonna be talking about.”
