Multiple pets dead following fire at East Windsor home

Multiple pets died in a house fire in East Windsor on Sunday that prompted mutual aid from multiple area departments.

The fire was reported at 4:33 p.m. at a home in the Broad Brook section of town at 53 Skinner Road, according to the Broad Brook Fire Department.

The first units on the scene found a working fire and requested mutual aid from the Ellington Volunteer Fire Department, fire officials said.

Firefighters from Broad Brook said they were on the scene within minutes, as they were responding to assist the Warehouse Point Fire Department for another call when the report of the fire on Skinner Road came in. Firefighters quickly put out a fire in a bedroom of the home, the Broad Brook Fire Department said.

No injuries were reported to any residents or firefighters. Multiple pets died in the fire, according to fire officials.

An official with Broad Brook Fire Department on Monday said he could not clarify what kind of pets were believed to be in the home.

Firefighters said they received mutual aid from the Warehouse Point, South Windsor, Ellington and Somers fire departments.

The blaze is being investigated by the fire marshal in East Windsor.
