US and international forces in northeastern Syria experienced multiple drone and rocket attacks in the past 24 hours, with no casualties and only minor damage reported, according to a US military official on Monday.

The attacks occurred three times on Sunday evening, including near the Al Omar Oil field and at a US base at al-Shaddadi, as reported by Reuters.

On Monday morning, multiple drones targeted US forces at the Rumalyn Landing Zone, with one drone being shot down and another damaging four tents.

These attacks followed two airstrikes carried out by the US on Sunday against facilities associated with Iran-aligned groups, marking the third set of strikes in Syria within three weeks, Reuter reported.

Since early October, US and coalition troops have faced approximately 40 attacks in Iraq and Syria, with some claiming these assaults are in response to US support for Israel during the conflict in Gaza.

The US has approximately 900 troops in Syria and 2,500 in neighbouring Iraq, where their mission is to advise and assist local forces in preventing an ISIS resurgence.

Security analysts expressed concerns that the Israel-Hamas conflict could further escalate in the Middle East, potentially making isolated US bases vulnerable to attacks.
